What I believe

Before You Quit, Give Yourself Room to Think

When work leaves you frustrated, exhausted, or questioning whether you belong in your career, leaving can start to feel like the only way forward.

I've been there. I know what it's like to spend months wrestling with a career decision, trying to figure out whether the problem is the work, the workplace, or something that needs to change in you.

You don't have to talk yourself into staying. You don't have to rush yourself into leaving, either. You deserve the space to understand what you want and make a decision you can stand behind.

The question isn't just whether to quit It's how to make a career decision you trust, based on what matters to you, rather than what you're desperate to escape.

Before you make your next move, let's look at three things.

What's actually going on?

  • Is it the work, the workload, or the workplace?
  • Have stress and frustration clouded how you see your career?
  • Are you facing a problem you can address, or a situation you need to leave?

What matters to you now?

  • What do you want more of in your working life?
  • What are you no longer willing to accept?
  • Are your choices reflecting your priorities, or other people's expectations?

What choices do you have?

  • What could change if you spoke up or set a boundary?
  • What have you assumed is impossible without exploring it?
  • What would make staying worthwhile, and what would tell you it's time to leave?

There's more than one way forward.

You don't have to choose between putting up with what isn't working and walking away from everything you've built. Your options depend on what's happening, what matters to you, and what you're willing and able to change.

When you act out of frustration You may leave before understanding what needs to change. Leaving may be the right choice. But when the need to escape takes over, it's easy to overlook other possibilities or carry familiar patterns into your next situation.
When you keep putting off the decision You may stay by default, not by choice. Fear, self-doubt, competing responsibilities, or uncertainty can keep you in a situation that no longer works for you. Waiting doesn't have to mean accepting things as they are.

Depending on what you discover, your way forward might be to:

Explore Change what isn't working Speak up, address a difficult situation, set boundaries, ask for support, or explore what could improve in your current role.
Reconsider Change how you approach it Examine the assumptions, expectations, and habits shaping your experience. Decide what you can influence, what you need to accept, and where you need a different approach.
Move on Leave because it's right for you If your role, company, or career no longer fits what you want, make that choice deliberately, with a clear understanding of why you're leaving and what matters in your decision.

The goal isn't to convince you to stay or push you to leave. It's to help you understand yourself, trust your judgment, and choose your way forward with intention.
